Using industry-leading genetics, Greswick Angus position themselves as a 'seedstock multiplier', providing quality Angus genetics at an affordable price.
The breeding principles on the surface are quite simple, to produce well balanced easy care cattle with above average growth, superior fertility to get back in calf every year and to provide meat yields suitable for a range of markets. Understanding EBV's (Estimated Breeding Values)
EBV's are commonly used to market animals to clients and are the best descriptor for providing an estimation of an animals genetic potential. The EBV calculations summarise a range of traits for maternal characteristics, calving ease, growth and carcase performance and provide information on the performance of the animal and its relatives and progeny.
An over-fed heavy bull may look flash in a sale pen, but these looks are heavily influenced by the environment in which the animal was raised. EBV's will highlight the genetic value of specific charactistics and more closely reflect the improvements in genetic gain possible through addition of the animal to a herd.
